Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health authorities during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A male was spoken with by department officers about illegally importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines via the web.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, stated: "It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be harmful.

"These kinds of items being sold, normally online, have undergone no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their security.

"You simply do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not know the result drugs like this might have on your health."
